Private Scheduling Procedure

Everything below will also be explained during the introduction on Friday night.

Scheduling 100 private classes is too difficult to do in a centralised way, so we’re going to approach this bottom-up!

Step 1: Create a preliminary schedule
At registration you’ll receive a card: your ticket for 30 minutes of private class. You can use this ticket in two ways: either you fill up one slot on the scheduling board on your own, and you get a 30 minute private from your chosen teacher; or you partner up with one, two, three or more others, and you get 60, 90, 120 or more minutes of semi-private class from one, two, three or more of your favorite teacher(s).

After the introduction of the teachers (and 10 minutes time to come up with your ideal private choice) on Friday the scheduling starts, in four rounds.

  • Round One – Every one with a RED ticket who wants a private on SATURDAY can hang their card on the scheduling board.
  • Rounde Two – Every one with a GREEN ticket who wants a private on SATURDAY can hang their card on the scheduling board.
  • Round Three – Every one with a GREEN ticket who wants a private on SUNDAY can hang their card on the scheduling board.
  • Round Four – Every one with a RED ticket who wants a private on SUNDAY can hang their card on the scheduling board.

(Yes, this is Catan inspired, and no, it’s still not entirely fair, if you have a suggestion to make it fairer, please let us know.)

Step 2: Improve
When we have a preliminary schedule, everything can still change; throughout the weekend everyone is free to adjust anything on the board, as long as everybody involved –teachers and students of all the relevant slots– are informed and agree with the change. Let’s be creative and help each other to optimise the schedule, so everybody gets what they came for, or more!

Through the communication board next to the scheduling board, you can reach the people you need to make the changes you want. Perhaps it’s the couple who have taken a slot you really wanted to have, to see if you can arrange something with them. (Swap slots, share slots? (See ‘advanced options’ below.)) Perhaps a teacher you want a class from is only teaching during a taster you really want to take, and you can ask them to teach on a different moment. For more uses, see the advanced options below.

Arrive prepared
To arrive prepared, have a look at the detailed schedule here, where the names of the private class teachers haven been filled in. Through the Facebook event page of Ceuvel Swing Camp you can already try to find anyone you’re looking for to make arrangements!

Advanced options
Not all advanced options can be completely reflected on the scheduling board. It’s an arrangement between the students and teachers involved.

Triplets, Quadruplets
It’s possible to extend the idea of ‘two privates with a partner’ to multiple people: if three of you want to work on the same thing, you can schedule three half hours with the three of you, or 4 half hours with 4 people, etc. Still quite some individual attention, and way more class hours! Please inform the teacher(s) involved if you want to do this.

Alternative teachers
Is there someone present you want to learn from who’s not on the official teaching list? Go ahead and schedule an empty slot together. There will be some extra tickets available for this. If all slots are taken, ask one of the organizers for an alternative location, or practice together on the Floating Floor or the jetty’s by the water..
